"Defining Motherhood" by Nat Davis

Did you know that according to the US Census report published in 2012 that nearly 1 in 5 people have a disability?

As a Sarcoma survivor, I spent time getting treatment with children struggling through cancer because Sarcoma generally affects elderly and children. I was a rare case as a mid-life patient. It was the children who gave me a different perspective of what it meant to fight for life.

Can you imagine waking up one morning, expecting to start a normal day of college courses, sending your child to school only to have the world tilt on you? Can you imagine the frantic emotional experience that must be the life of the parents of this child?

Imagining may not be enough. The book "Defining Motherhood," by several mothers has been published by Nat Davis to provide a window of insight that is a part of disability and the societal challenges they have to deal with on a daily basis.

This is an image of her definition of motherhood. This is a chance to read what it can be like.
